Community & Vocational Committee

At the recent AGM Andrew reported that last summer the Club looked after the entry gate for the Highland Games. We were given a £500 donation for our efforts.

 

The committee has given support to both Lochaber Hope and the West Highland Museum.

 

The Dollywood Library aims to improve literacy levels in children. Rotary will co-ordinate this on going project locally.

 

The Windband Concert at Kilmallie Hall raised £347 for funds.

Morrison’s bag packing raised £1,723. Big thanks to all who organised and took part.

 

The annual carol singing to residential homes was the usual success as was the Burns supper at Invernevis House.

 

The International Meal raised £1,218 for the funds.

 

At the end of May we are supporting Maggie’s for their charity walk / cycle ride along the Great Glen Way.

 

As well as supporting other committees in their fund raising efforts, this committee has raised £3,788 for the benevolent fund this year so far.

Andrew Bootman is continuing as the Convener for this year with David Mee as his Vice convener. His committee for this year is: Alan Kirk; John Rosie; Mike MacGruer; John Goodall; Kevin Peace; Gerald Macintyre; Mairi Mooney; and Theresa Kennedy.

 

The committee has met and will be presenting their programme for next year to the Club Assembly on 16th June.
