Community and Vocational Committee 2010-2011 Report
The annual round is governed largely by calendar events, although these have be supplemented by one-off fund raiders. I delegated events for members of the committee to lead on – with their agreement. Thus by calendar basis:
Andrew led the Highland Games entry, with the report from the organisers that, we were delighted with the Rotary work at the gate. Gate income, including programmes was down this year from £11,055 to £8378.37. We still received £500, for funds as a result.
John Goodall led the Windband Concert at Kilmallie Hall, which raised £208.50 net profit for funds. Substantially down on last year due to the inclement weather.
Morrison’s Bag Pack led by David Mee raised £3,131.80 up £400 on least year, next year we have pre-booked 23rd December, this will have logistical issues for next year’s committee, but the money flows in!
John Rosie organised the whisky to accompany the shortbread for the Christmas parcels with the High School and also at the Carol singing, thank goodness there are people that can sing as I cannot!
David Thomson was the key organiser for the Burns supper at Abbeyfield which was a success, with music provided by the Lochaber Strathspey and Reel Society.
The International Meal was postponed due to lack of ticket sales this has been rearranged for 4th November 2011.
Andrew gave a talk about Rotary to the University of the Third Age and received a donation of £20.00.
At the end of April we supported in kind Maggie’s for their charity Monster Bike and Hike walk/cycle ride along the Great Glen Way.
As well as supporting other committees in their fund raising efforts, this committee has raised £3,860.80 for benevolent funds.
