Prayer section by Eric D Walker

Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Heavenly Father, we know that all power and authority comes from you and all knowledge and skill comes from your will, so we praise you for your gifts to us all and for the opportunity to use those gifts to your Glory.

Lord we are aware of your constant care for us through Jesus Christ your Son and through Your word we have been led to know more of your purpose for us.  We ask that you fill us with your divine presence as we today rededicate our lives to you.  Fill our lives we pray with your light and life that we may show the world your wonderful Glory and grant that your love may so fill our lives that nothing is too small to do for you and nothing too hard for us to bear.

Like your followers on the Emmaus road, we are so often blind to your presence and fail to recognise that you are our companion on the way.  We ask that through the journey of life you set our feet on solid foundations and lead us steadily forward even though the journey may be difficult and the road ahead bleak and dark.  Lord, we place our trust in you to guide us and give us light even though we have yet to understand your purpose for us.

God of all righteousness, our lives are so often filled with the daily tasks of life that we neglect to take time for you, forgive us for this and help us to have you in our lives, all day, every day.  We know that you are there we just need to be constantly aware of your presence and rely on your counsel to save us from ourselves.  We fail you so often with the wrongs we have committed, and none of us are blameless.  Forgive our unworthiness, forgive us for the many ways in which we have disappointed you and so we pray your mercy as we admit our faults and strengthen our resolve to put all our past failings behind us and to dedicate our lives to your service.

Lord we thank you for the love that has been shown to us, for the love of family and friends and above all for your love poured out to us so freely every moment of our lives.  O God of all goodness, who is worthy of a greater love than we can give or understand, fill our hearts we pray with feelings of kindness and compassion, rejoicing in the happiness and success of others.  Remove from us all forms of selfishness and harsh judgements, replacing them with true thoughts that we may follow you with perfect love and we ask these things in the name of your son Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Amen.

May the God of hope fill you withal joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans15: 13)
