Scottish Charity No: SC010199

The vision of the Church of Scotland is to be a church which seeks to inspire the people of Scotland and beyond with the Good News of Jesus Christ through enthusiastic, worshipping, witnessing, nurturing and serving communities.

The Presbytery of Lochaber has fifteen congregations within nine charges. It is centred on Fort William in the West Highlands of Scotland. The purpose of this web site is to show to both locals and visitors alike the work that these congregations are undertaking. All times of services are here. You will be made very welcome if you want to join in with any of our activities.

Web and email links have been placed, but if you want to communicate with us you can email the Presbytery Clerk at lochaber@cofscotland.org.uk. The Presbytery Clerk is the Rev David M. Anderson who is an Auxiliary Minister. The Clerk organises the affairs of Presbytery. David is also in charge of this web site.

The Church of Scotland has 44 Presbyteries which are area groupings. The Presbytery has many legal functions, but it's main purpose is to co-ordinate and to encourage the work of the Church of Scotland in its local area. A very successful coffee morning and sale was held in Ballachulish hall on Saturday 23rd February. Over £1830 was raised for the orphanage and street kids’ centre in Arusha, Tanzania. This was very much a community effort by the people of Duror, Glencoe & Ballachulish. All the churches in the area were involved and thanks go to all who manned the various stalls; served the tea & coffee; the individuals and companies who donated prizes and items for sale, and to those who came along and supported this deserving cause.  One of the organisers, Bill Strachan, a member of St Munda’s, said there was a great atmosphere in the hall. Everyone wanted to do something to make the morning a success – there was a great community spirit!  Bill recently visited the orphanage and can assure everyone that the money will be put to good use.
